The problem is that often words and stats fail us. DJ is not merely 5% better than the pack. In some metrics it looks that way, but in other metrics he is light yrs away. We can't get to focused on one metric unless that is precisely where the relevant data lies. The structure of tennis scoring keeps things tight unless the gap in skills is quite large. But to give an answer to this paradox via my charting, that gap is largely created by his ability to earn an attackable mid-court ball, combined with the Dual Objective of his ability to execute on the mid-court ball.
